Saving a Cemetery

Yesterday I made the trip to the very SE corner of my county to see the Antioch Dedication Memorial that was installed last year.

While there, we crossed into the neighboring county and visited the Mulkey Cemetery*. A man walked across the dirt road to visit with us. He was the one that had restored and cares for the cemetery. What a pleasure it was to chat with him and see that there are others that care for our rural burying grounds.

Not yet

Green Valley

Not exactly what I wanted to see when I stepped out of the car at this cemetery. While this is a surname stone and my first name is spelled just like it that didn't stop the little jolt I experienced.

So much loss

Recently I visited a cemetery in the county next door. One stone stood out, not because of its shape, but because of the number of deaths listed on its four sides. 10 names. The family of William F. Stevens. The Sedgwick County KSGenWeb posted his biography online and it provides a good amount of information on his background, 3 wives and children. I have not found his death and burial location. If I do I'll post an update.
